Post Re: Cambelt change instructions
Cheers for all the info.

I finished her off this afternoon, reconnected the battery and she started first time and purred!

I've added a coolant system cleaner which apparently needs to be left in the system for between 2 and 48 hours to give it a thorough clean out. I've got to do a 220 mile round trim on Thursday so I think I'll use the car for that as that should get everything cleaned out and then I can drain, flush and then re-fill the coolant system on Friday and also check all the auxillary belts to see if any of them have slackened off with being used.

The next jobs are to sort some of the electrical Gremlins out and then the paintwork.

Been struggling for time to work on the car over the last few weeks, work keeps getting in the way!

I still haven't got around to changing the rotor arms/cap/leads etc so, hopefully that will be Wednesday's job. I can see why so many of these cars get neglected. I bought genuine Bosch/Beru parts for the car and it cost me a fortune!

I'm still also chasing my electrical Gremlins but, I think I'm getting there.

For some reason I seem to be really busy at the moment and am struggling to find time to get much done on the car.

However, this week I've manage to fit the HT leads (I did the plugs, caps and arms last week), replace the gauze filter under the air box as it was damaged and fitted a new pair of tailgate gas struts as I was sick to death of it falling on my head!

The bonnet struts now seem to have given up the ghost so they'll need replacing as well. Probably because the bonnets been up and down so much recently!

I've enquired about getting the car converted to LPG and I've been quoted £2400 for an absolutely top notch job that's man enough to handle the power/fuel supply of the car. It's a lot of money but, I need to sit down and work out how many miles I'm likely to do in it (if it was LPG the use would go up) and then work out how long it would take to recoup the money and if it's worth it.

Also, I've spoken to Paul Anderson who here in the UK is the 928 'Guru' and once I've done everything I'm going to take it up to him in Stroud (about 220 miles away) for him to wave his magic wand over so I know everything is 100%. His labour is just over half of what Porsche charge and apparently his knowledge is far superior so it's hopefully money and time well invested.

I'll keep you updated!

Things are going well. I've now done all the little jobs and everything seems to be working ok and I may (fingers crossed!) have sorted out my electrical gremlins.

I've got both electric seats working (part of the loom was missing) and the drain on the battery has now disappeared so it's going well.

The final job I've been told to do before taking out on a long drive is release the pressure on the torque plate? Apparently it is accessed via a plate by the starter motor (mine's an auto box) and it's supposed to be a fairly simple job!

Has anybody pictures/links/manuals that would assist me in doing this?

Many thanks!
