Post Dash
I have a dash that can be said of it that it is finished. The leather is gone and falling apart. So I am looking to replacing the cover and my question is has anyone put one of those dash caps on your dash? I am looking into getting it re-upholstered but I thought that the cap may be a good short term fix instead of my dash mat. If so do you have any pics of the cap? I don’t want it contrast too badly with the door panels and the center console.

Run away from the Dash Cap. They will warp. I almost bought one and glad I didn't. There is so much bad feedback on that. Either get it re-covers in Leather or Vinyl or put a padded cover on it. Rob Bud has a great line on recovering dashes.

Thanks. I just spoke with my upholstery guy and he echoed the same sentiment. I have one of those Grandpa padded covers and should be ok for a little while.
I was thinking about changing the blue leather dash to black or something that would work well with an all blue car. Because the rest of my leather pieces are fine i.e. center console etc. Here are my thoughts (actually I am very open to suggestions):
Recover the main section of the dash in black leather, vinyl or maybe that suede looking material.
OR
Recover the dash, center console, vent portion of the door cards and the rear center hump.

Obviously the cost is far greater for option 2 but I think it would work great. Plus going with a different color would help elevate the whole matching conundrum which is my primary concern.

Thoughts?

I would get them all done back to what it was original (blue). If the Pod is Black, do it in Blue. If you can't get Blue then go all black. It's the only other color that will look good in your combo.

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking about rehydrating the current leather with Surflex Leather Soffener and maybe try and dye the older portions. Has anyone one had luck dyeing leather with any accuracy? I have read about a couple companies that swear they can get very close to a swatch that you send in. It is the cost of redoing the perfectly good leather that I would prefer to avoid. I figured on using my seats as a baseline for color.

I would totally rejuve and dye the leather that is savable, but your Pod and Dash are not.

That blue is nice.
When I did mine, I chose leather. But a few days ago my brother and I did his dash, and we chose a new kind of vinyl which looks the same as leather. the upholstery guy did a very fine job, except for the vents, in which did´nt fix as the should.
My brother chose a black leather with blue stitches. I think it looks great.

My suggestion is to wrap your dash in this new kind of vinyl, they look just fine.

Good luck !.

Wow that looks great. I like the stitching on the corners it really brings it together. Is that dash from a blue interior? My guy said he had some vinyl that was supposed to pretty great. My hope is that we can match the vinyl to the leather, if not then we may be doing more of the car.

Thanks for the pics.

Oh I have one of those pod covers (2 piece) has anyone used these with any success?
