Post Carpet Dye?
Has anyone tried to dye their carpet in the vehicle without removing? The carpet in my resto project seems to be ok, bt it's brown and would like to dye it black. Any suggestions on how to do this?

I haven't but it sounds like a messy job. I imagine you would want to remove the carpets to save yourself some cleanup grief.

Yes, I agree. I think I might just go with the full carpet kit at a little over $300 bucks.

Full Sliverknit for a 928 is more like $600, its very high quality wool, dying wouldn't be high on my list of things to try.

Black is REAL common, buy a good set of used maybe.

I get the feeling many of us will get pretty good at taking interiors apart and putting them back together. Doing all the carpet doesn't "seem" all that hard. Once the seats have been in and out, and a few electrical things chased, carpet may seem easy. I'm already figuring its impossible to clean without removing from the car (wool and water = bad).

******** Not far down the 928 road, it gets expensive with few practical options and I think you have to ask yourself why did I buy a 928 when considering anything but the best replacement parts.

I was actually looking at not Sliveknit, but the other material at 928 Leather Shop:

Porsche 924, 944, or 968 Carpet Kit. Nylon Domestic Material Black Only

Interior Carpet Kit Made in Domestic Nylon Carpet Material. Same as the German Sliverknit kit only made from domestic, cut pile, nylon, material similar in look and feel to the Sliverknit. Available in black only. Kit Includes: Carpet pieces to replace all pieces inside car with insulated backing on floors..

$319

I died my carpet floor mats, used RIT black dye. They came out great and look brand new. I took them out to do it. It is super messy not very hard to do but definetly need to remove from the car.

Excellent. I've used RIT in the past for other stuff. Found in any grocery store too.
