 Tyre size for 15inch teledials
Hi
I own a 86 928 S2 which currently has 17" 225/45/94 Front & 255/40/94 Rear
Front tyres rub when I turn corners - This was how the car was when I bought it a year ago.
Since then I have aquired 15" teledials.
Now these obviously look a fair bit smaller than the ones I have on now - My objective is to keep the look of wide/large rears with slightly smaller tyres at the front without the rubbing!
I am a beginner to cars/928 so please excuse my knowledge.
What is the largest/widest rear and in relation to front without the rub!
I have also read that the larger the tyre the better the fuel economy! also better grip but this can also mess up the speedo if too large! If this is true can the speedo be retuned!
What is the best recommended sizes for 15'!
Thank you

Re: Tyre size for 15inch teledials
My 16 Phonedials use 225/50 R16 all the way around since they are 7" in width. If I could find some 8" rears, i would run 245's. Looks like the same size as the 16's 225/50 R15 according to this 15" PD for Sale. Attachment:

Thanks for reply
Would you say 15/6inch front 16/7 rear 225/50 all round is a good idea!
Cheers

Cheers Yikes a 6 inch front. I would say a smaller one for the font then. Maybe a 205 or a 215 if they make one.

Re: Tyre size for 15inch teledials
The recommended size for the 15" wheels is 215mm front and 225 rears, but only the very first 928's were available with that setup. Your S2 should be 16" flat-faced wheels with 225's all round. Some of the very late OB-cars came with 245 rears, like the S4.
I think you will experience difficulties with fitting 15" wheels on such a late car. The calipers will probably be too large, and the car is gonna handle like a boat.
Personally, and as an owner of a 928 S2, I run 17" wheels with 225mm's front and 255mm's rear, and no problems with that setup. I think the ET-number on your rims may be at fault here - are they aftermarket or factory like mine? (Mine are from a late GTS)

OK So forget the 15" I have....Are 16 teledials any better with larger/wider tyres or head for just 17s! Are there any original or aftermarket 17" teledials out there!

I really don't know why you are experiencing trouble with those wheels - they are excactly the same as mine! No spacers, no nothing.
16" teledials, if you like the look, will work fine on your car. They were optional all the way till 86 I belive, and have the same dimensions as the flat-disc wheels.

16" Phonedials are what I have. Spacers are needed in the rear to fill in the wheelwell. I have pics of that. Follow my project thread.
